The Gummee Story

Hi, I’m Jodine — founder of Gummee, mum of two, and the inventor of the original Gummee Glove.

Gummee was born right here in Cornwall, UK, not in a boardroom or a big company office, but in the middle of real life, real parenting and real exhaustion.

When my eldest son started teething incredibly early, he was desperate to chew and soothe his sore gums, but he simply didn’t have the dexterity to hold a traditional teether yet. Like many parents, I found myself constantly picking toys up off the floor, washing them, handing them back… only for them to be dropped seconds later.

I remember thinking: surely there has to be something designed specifically for tiny hands that can’t grip yet?

At the time, there wasn’t. So I made one.

That idea became the original Gummee Glove — the world’s first wearable teething mitten — and from that moment our little family business began.

Over the years, Gummee has grown far beyond that very first glove. We’ve developed products for different stages of teething, sensory exploration and additional needs mouthing support, all with the same goal at the heart of them: creating products that genuinely help families through difficult stages of development with a little more comfort, reassurance and calm.

Everything we create comes from lived experience as parents and carers. We know what it feels like to be exhausted, overwhelmed and desperately searching for something that might help your little one settle. That’s why we care so deeply about every detail — from comfort and practicality to safety testing and quality control.

We’ve invested huge amounts of time, energy and resources into ensuring our products meet some of the highest safety standards possible, because as a mum myself, I know there is nothing more important than trust when it comes to your child.

What means the most to me isn’t awards or business milestones — it’s the messages from parents, grandparents and carers telling us that a Gummee product helped soothe a baby who was struggling, supported a loved one with additional needs, or simply gave an exhausted parent a few moments of peace.

That will always be the heart of Gummee.
